The role of district research leaders (DRLs) in central offices has emerged as a strategy for improving the creation, flow, and use knowledge decision-making. However, there is limited information about responsibilities, opportunities, challenges inherent these roles. This exploratory qualitative study features document analysis to examine individual backgrounds, job demands, organizational contexts DRLs. result this suggest that multiple pathways DRL exist, but few include formal training brokering. Further findings jobs are complex entail diverse tasks, share focus on leadership coordination, identifying obtaining relevant information, facilitating evidence-informed change.
